Just bought the CD quite recently. It's Anberlin's latest album New Surrender.
Anyway, here are my thoughts:
New Surrender is a departure from the previous albums, especially Cities and Lost songs. There's a lot more depth inside this album then previously. There's no depth that this album is more fueled by emotions, as illustrated by songs like Soft Skeleton, and past memories (Haight Street).
The songs of the album are catchy, and definately something rockers would like to rock to, whether you prefer fast hard rock like in Feel Good Drag or The Resistance, or something more sentimental and slow like Soft Skeletons.
However, Stephen Christian's vocals sound a little lacklustre on this album. It could have been more powerful on some of the songs, as it implies that he's not trying hard enough to sing.
Other than that, this is one album that is worth picking up at the nearby CD shop for less then $20
Rating: 8.5/10
