imo, the single preamp tube wont do much to emulate the sound of a tube amp.
the "magic" of a tube amp comes from pushing the power stage, which comprises of the commonly used el84, el34 or the 6l6. Of course there is a large variety of power tubes but i digress.
the bottom line is imo, all the single preamp tube does it to warm the signal up a little. I have owned an avt50 before, but this is definitely not saying that non tube amps or in this case hybrid amps do not sound good. Its all up to taste, but do not expect the single 12ax7 to do wonders
