Its WEEK 11 at Alternation!
OCTOBER 18th THURS @ DXO
The only dedicated Alternative Music Night in Singapore, Every thursday at DXO. Watch out for me because I might be handing out double passes to the DXO halloween event on the 27th. This week we are heading into a more indie direction with Close Apart and Cardinal Avenue.
Residents: DJ MENTOR (X'ho) and Saito Nagasaki
Close Apart
Six people who, despite possessing almost no time to do anything other than work, have somehow decided that being in a band was the best thing since sliced bread.. We work late, jam till later and do it all again the next day. Citing diverse influences and having come from a number of bands that contributed to the seminal sound of Singapore's rock scene in the '90s, there's a little bit of everything in a CloseApart song--indie hooks, dancey beats, blues riffs, punk swagger and hell, even a bit of classical-jazz piano. Come listen.
Shahn Isaac (lead guitar), Ronald Rajan (rhythm guitar), Jarrod Ng (bass), Harold Seah (drums) and Eunice Olsen (keyboards)
Saito: Quite a celebrity band here, checkup their lineup above. Brings to mind the electrico format as well. Quite an impressive portfolio including Moto (Red) as well as the Vivocity countdown

Cardinal Avenue
Cardinal Avenue enjoys stirring people’s feelings and emotions into a large
bucket of pure heaven. Playing heart thumping, bitch slapping music, Cardinal
Avenue puts emotion to sweat on guitar strings. The significance of power
chords, twangy riffs, dodgy bass lines, groovy-uvy drums and the hypnotic
power of sing-a-long lyrics; for the lack of a better phrase, makes the world go
round.
Since getting together late 2006, the band, could not and would not let
themselves just compose and jam in between four walls. Imagining themselves
playing at Rock Am Ring one day, Cardinal Avenue has set out to make it a
point to take people’s souls on a ride far beyond the sun to a place on the
border of heaven and hell. Its going to be one hell of a ride on the Cardinal
Avenue experience – the rest, is simply up to you.
Drummer: John Liu
Bass: Brice
Lead Guitar: Faris
Rhythm Guitar/Vocals: Prahlad
Saito: Cardinal avenue will play first at 9.30pm, Closeapart at 10.15pm
Age policy: 18+
Price: $12 entry incl one drink, $6 for NEBO members
Guestlist please come early (before 10pm)
