AFI's a punk band? Seriously? I thought they were emo...sorta the MCR type without the constant screaming...

They were a punk band, like back in mid 90s or something, they were decent, but i'm sure alot of people minus their "punk bandwagon moronic" fans are glad in their turn towards a more "poetic" side.

hah. there's always this pattern to bands eh. always damn good while they were underground, and when they hit the radios. everyone starts listening to us. and we'd start saying that their new album sucks blah blah blah.

i think there's a very common mindset that when a band is popularized, like being on mtv and radio often, becomes sucky. sighs. but still i am and will be a loyal fan of afi

Eh, AFI was never "underground" lah, maybe in their punk days I guess you could consider it underground, but that wasn't them at their best.
Sing the sorrow(their peak in my opinion) was actually a huge commercial success, just not in singapore.

All the good bands that were good back in early 2000 are all releasing really mediocre stuff compared to the stuff I know their capable of eg:AFI,Muse,RHCP and Strokes.
A few more good bands are gonna release stuff soon, just pray that they wont let us all down again.

the drummer is so darn cool during live performances, especially when they played girls not grey..the rudimental drum solo rocked...and btw afi was considered hardcore when they first started out...
