hey ppl. need help regarding my lp copy's 3 way switch. There seems to be a prob. Whenever i switch to the bridge pickup. The toggle switch will not stay, instead it will go back to the original position. And when i switch to the neck pickup position. It will also go back to the original position which is the centre spot. Can anyone tell me whats wrong with it? is something wrong with the switch? :(

Yikes. mikemann umm how much will it cost?
Cause i jus got it back today frm GC. They had help me fixed the neck and change both pups. then as i was playing my guitar jus now. I realised the prob with the switch. But before i send it to them for fixing, the switch was still working fine. So what ya suggest?

Just bring it back to them again. My knowledge is that low cost LP copies like craftman, samick, tgm...etc. The pots and switches normally last 1-2yrs, some longer some shorter.

It's a low cost repair, and since you just got it back from the service shop, they may just charge you for the part. I reccomend to replace the part itself.

mikemann: ah i see. Thanks alot eh. I jus called up GC. It cost 35 to change the whole part!! thats ex man. will it affect my guitar if i dont change for the time being?

Nah, it's ok if you don't mind. Maybe you can find something sticky to jam a little just nice for it to hold.

Like Mike said, those 3 way type toggle switches on LP copy type guitars tend to wear out easily. The contact of the switch wasn't very good and i actually sprayed some switch lubricant inside the switch which helped. The best solution would be to replace the switch.

talking about 3-way switch, I'm currently facing a problem with that in my tele. I have a (true) single-coil in my neck(rhythm) position, and a dimarzio stack in the bridge position.

my intention is to wire as follow: Position :
1 - neck
2 - neck + (only) one of the bridge coil in parallel, hum-cancelling
3 - bridge in humbucker mode

I could achieve all, except position 2, in which the neck is parallel with one of the bridge coil, but still with the 60-cycle hum. I swapped the hot with ground, but still having the same effect.

GC, or anyone, can you help? thanks.

GC: Yeah thanks alot for ya help. Im satisfied with the job ya guys done on my guitar.haha. anw will go down one day to fix the switch. :)
