Advice on Wah Pedal

I had never tried a wah pedal before (beside my very lousy mutil effect) I got budget of around $200. Any good deal around? Heard that crybaby wah is good.

Junhao,

Thanks.

Dunlop Crybaby arent as good as they are popular. Although I know you see them on every guitar magazine. I would recommend Budda Budwah go check it out at TYMC

i dont see whats wrong with them imo. the only crybaby models i didnt like are the signature models. esp the zakk wylde one.. and the crybaby classic i didnt like also

other than that, they are very decent. most of them have a very nice buffer which i have not experienced any "tone sucking" whatsoever

do substentiate your claim.

that aside

Wah pedals like voxes tend to suck tone when used with gain ( distortion )

They are beautiful with cleans.

Crybabys on the other hand handle distortion better than voxes.

This comes from personal experience.

Brands like Buddha/Fulltone Clyde are considered boutique brands. They are more pricey but not necessarily better. Trust your ears and see what you like. Do not be drawn into any pedal because its ex or based on what others say.

Nice statement. therefore i must go down and try out. duh. thanks so much,

u're the first dude in a long time who asked for recommendations, and actually bothers to go try it out.

not like so many other who expected to be spoonfed everything and cant even be bothered to call up to check for prices.

i shant be spoonfeeding anymore

Lol. I can understand. I do see such thing.

What base are you planning to use your wah on?

Clean or Dirty?

Different wahs are more suitable for different areas.

Do tell us so we can help you better!

I use an Artec Wah and I find them to be a good alternative to the Dunlop's Crybabies. Sounds great with both clean or distortion. Nice sweep range with an adjustable "swissh" knob too. Plus for the price you can never go wrong...

the question is not how badly they suck or how good they rock. Im asking in what way are they not good as they are to be?

It might not be same to your ears but to mine they sound really scrappy.
And from the other wahs i tested like Budda and ernie ball i feel the dunlop sound less rich in harmonics. Although dunlops definately have that bigger trebley screech which some players prefer. And their not as good as they should be is mainly refering to the sound you hear from your favourite artist.
You should get what i mean now.

yep i do. good answer. i see ur point.

im swapping out my crybaby for smth arriving soon and yes i favour the crybabes for that screech

i think most artists that use crybabys use them in rack form and controls them with a volume pedal. any difference? im sure the rack ones have quite a number of controls.

im currently hoping to get my vox wah modded in the future.
