Advice on pedals and looking for effect pedals

hey people...i am new to this whole thing..i am finding out the line u for single effects because i heared that single effect not every one fits each other..so people,wats the best line up of pedals??i play christian music,avenged sevenfold and some hardcore,some metal... glad to hear from u guys!!!thanks!!!

New to the effects world? My advise is to get a multifx. It allows you to get an idea what a flanger, chorus, od, fuzz etc sounds like. Plus, a multifx usual has one or two 'wacky' presets that are just plain awesome for noise making.

Once you figured out what effects you like and what you don't, you can then move into buying single stompboxes.

I play Christian music too, and most rock, fusion genres and heavy metal. The bare minimum would be a distortion pedal and an overdrive pedal. Avenged Sevenfold isn't heavy metal, but since you said you do play some metal, get a high-gain distortion pedal, since most high-gains can easily do hard rock / metalcore if you lower the gain setting.

So, in all:
- High-gain distortion
- Overdrive


If you decide you'd wanna use some effects, you might wanna try out delays, flangers, phasers, reverbs, etc. But for the stuff you play, the above mentioned are the bare minimum.

For the multi-effects route, get an affordable, smaller one like maybe a Line 6 FloorPOD as they have most effects including delay, flanger, etc... Don't bother getting a gigantic one as of yet, unless you're planning to sick to MFX for life.
