Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations or advice on specific brands and models of upright pianos for beginners.

I'm looking to buy a 2nd hand piano that is reliable and sounds good. Age does not matter, it can be 25 years old and I wouldn't mind.

My budget is about 1.5k. I know it's not alot but I was wondering if there are any pianos out there that fit my criteria?

Thanks in advance!!

Hmm, get your teacher to choose with you. To buy a 2nd hand piano, you can do research on some 2nd hand dealer. :)

Personally, I got mine from Cristofori warehouse for 2nd hand piano.

They have different brands and price range. You should be able to find one under your budget. Most importantly, you need to like the sound produced and the touch. :)

Thanks for the advice bro!

I now have a few brands which I'll be specifcally looking for: Yamaha, Kawai, Cristofori.

I'm also trying to narrow down my selection to upright pianos that are at least 120cm.

It seems that my online searches produce very little results for pianos like that and most of the pianos which I come across are like U1, U3 which is way out of my budget. Any older piano models that are at least 120cm?

Thanks!

You should go down to the warehouse showroom. There are alot more models there which you can simply try them out. :) Should be able to find one within your budget and need.

yea, go to the warehouse, there's a lot of choices there,
but yea, it'll be good if you can get an experienced pianist to accompany you,
at least he can help u make an informed decision should you be stuck between 2 (or more) choices.

personal preference also play a part in buying lah,
so you can sort of brainstorm wad you want out of the piano,
like how heavy should the keys be?
should the sound be bright?
the height of the pedals also make a difference ( some pedals quite far from the ground so very hard to press haha)

just my suggestion

hi, i looking for a up right piano for my 6 yo kid too. anyone know how much a used 30 yo U1 or U3 yahama cost? thanks

Hi, I'm actually looking for a buyer for my piano, basically cos i'll be shifting and my parents asked if i could sell the piano instead of shifting it to the new house. It is about ten years old and still in a good condition. It has been well looked after and covered up by a protective sheet all the time. The only setback is that it probably needs tuning. About pricing perhaps about 2.5k? (price negotiable given the age)
