Advice needed

i bought the stagestar..n totally pimped it up in my opinion..haha.

get a decent set first...n slowly add-on and improve it... :)

Wow....FuyunoUta look at all these advice. How I wish when I was younger I can have all these drummer friends helping me.....However the Internet doesn't exist during those time...Hahahahaha :lol:

take your time to make your decision, no hurry.. great advice and recommendations given by the others, the usual suspects for first drum kits all been listed above (stagestar la, RT la, Mapex Q la...). do go down and try them out, make sure you like the sound, quality of the kit/hardware. one man's meat is another man's poison. choose wad YOU like.
but then again, assuming that you are a hdb dweller here like most of us.. do take time to consider the noise volume. no point buying a kit and letting it rot there cos u cannot play it due to the volume. and also no point buying a full maple kit with 22" kick drum only to muffle the hell out of it (masking tape, newspaper, pillow, etc).
 
Yup, with proper tuning, cheap kits can sound great too...however, durability will be an issue with cheap wood...for example, the bearing edges might wear faster. Also, with cheap wood, shells may not stay in shape for as long.
