Advice needed for mics!

Hi, guys. Need to get some mics which are good for mic-ing guitar amps and for vocals as well? Any other recommendations besides the popular Shure mics?

Use more than 1 mic, it adds more layers and make the sound thicker, then mix accordingly..
I mix a few, though the infamous SM57 will often be used among them..
I would like to try XY on recording guitar amp on the next tryout.. the last time it didn't turn out as well, i'm going to experiment more...
