Hi all!
I have a JEM-JR which i bought 2nd-hand at a shop for $500 2 years ago. Last month a saddle of the trem broke, so i brought it down to the same shop for a damage assessment.
On removing the trem, the shopkeeper discovered a crack inside the body of the guitar. Filling the wood + installing a new, 'brandless' trem would cost $300+.
My friend said the repair cost is already 60% of the price i paid for it originally, so repairing is not worth it. But i really like the guitar, plus i feel that it is a cheaper option compared to buying another 2nd-hand guitar which is durable and plays well.
Now my major concern is whether the new trem or filled body will give me problems again in future, should i choose to repair it. As you all know, the trem is a floating one, and mine's not even an Edge. Mine should be a Lo-TRS...so i think Gotoh wouldn't fit, i got this info from another shop.
Help i need:
1) advice regarding the repairs
2) reliable/trusted luther for repairs
3) tips to care better for floating bridges
Thanks for reading, really appreciate help
