Hi all,

Wanting to get an electric guitar below $300 or $350, max.
Looking at ibanez, squier but not sure which is better.
Open to other choices as well!

Decided that Im going to get the nux amp, if this information helps.

Mainly listen to muse, arctic monkeys so would like to get this kind of sound.

Thanks!

hi :-)

with reference to your musical influences, you won't need a locking bridge so if you are set on getting one from the Ibanez range, do consider a fixed bridge model. please consider Schecter/ LTD & Swing models as well.

I see. Any particular models for me to check them out? Thanks! Anyway, Im coming from an acoustic background, but a total newbie in electric guitar though. haha!

Oh in addition, any electric guitar 101 for me to read up to prevent me from making some nonsensical comments?

Hi bro , i hav also bought a new nux frontline 15 amp. A good amp for a good price. Bought it on cristofori for 119$ . Had been wif me for two years as it has quite a lot of distortion sounds till i bought my multi efx pedal .

Went to a guitar shop at peninsular today, was recommended to either get Ibanez Gio series or Squier Standard Strat. Did some read ups and many people prefer the Ibanez to the Squier, just wana check if there are any distinct difference to it. Currently prefer the strat more for its looks.

go with what you like.

The Ibanez GIOs & Squiers are some of the best offerings in terms of value for money but QC is a hit/ miss. one simply needs to do a thorough check to get a worthy purchase. some GIO models i recommend: http://theguitaraddict.blogspot.sg/2008/12/ibanez-gio-series-which-one-to-buy.html

Squier on the other hand (unlike Ibanez) offers 'higher end' models in its Classic Vibe & Vintage Modified models. however, if you are willing to pay that much, you'd do well to check out those Chinese Fenders (Modern Player series). i find them perfectly acceptable in terms of QC & playability, just that those pickups are not for everyone. here's a HSS Strat from this series:
