adding the emotion element into singing

i tink closing one's eyes and tryin the friggin best to squeeze mucus out of em is just gimmicky stagework.u dun need to close yr eyes when performing.it just puts some ppl off ya knw.just one's vocals and songs is powerful enough to emit emotion.no need for gimmicks.

to each his/her own bro, everyone has their own idea of how to "feel" best..
i close my eyes at some parts of the songs i sing, and that helps me. sometimes i don't even realise i'm doing it, so maybe that's food for thought on whether it was a result of relaying the emotion.

so far no one in the audience has complained.. maybe cos i glare at them afterwards LOL

K i know this old a bit old ah... But i think so far the best singer IMO who has really did it with inserting emotion and sincerity in his songs is James Morrison.

Someone said something about articulating and singing the way like the original singer. I think that's just like photocopying. It doesn't say much about you and your ability.

Closing your eyes, understanding the lyrics and just feel the music.

Which reminds me, last time I had some airplay time for some singing thingy on radio, for some cheer patrol crap lah, and I was hanging out late with my friends the night before and didn't go home.. went straight to mediacorp and into the studio...

Was singing closing my eyes, purely to help with the feel, and I ended up dozing off.. thankfully they brought the mic volume down when they saw my head tip off and miss the last line lol damn embarassing they thought I fainted or something... :X
