Adding 22nd fret to 21 fret fretboard

I think if the workmanship is good, it seems like a viable idea.

Fingerboard woods are generally very hard, the strength of the glue contact should be sufficient enough to handle the force exerted on the fret such as fretting of the 22nd fret and the vibrations of the string at the 22nd fret, both of which are of minuscule magnitude as compared to say the force at the bolt on joint at the neck.

Technically its very possible but i think a very good Luther will be needed to ensure that the glue joint is strong and slotted in very precisely, the new fret also has to be leveled in a way that it is level with the other frets in front of it.

If you do go for the mod and it is successful do let me know, i would be very interested in modding my 21 fret strat into a 22 fretter too :D

imagine getting a full refret and that piece of wood gets knocked off instead of the fret.

the main concern here is not the wood. rather, the glue used. on top of paying for all the routing & glueing, you'd have to pay for leveling that one fret. you are going to spend 100s when a typical strat replacement neck costs almost just as much.

I don't even want to go into the resale value part.

hmm... wana try considering getting a new 22-fret neck instead? its gona be more durable than attaching some wood to a 21-fret neck~ from what i think i know, the distance between the frets are the same for both the 21-fret neck and the 22-fret neck other than the extra wood at the end, so the measurement of a new neck should suit ur strat just fine~

(correct me if im wrong :|)
