Action?

i just changed my restrung my guitar to 10-46s. funny thing is, the string height got higher. and i realised the previous set of strings was of a lower guage. the previous set of strings was from the shop after a set-up and i remember asking for 10-46s. and before that it was already set up for 10-46s.

i measured the height at the 17th fret and it is about 4mm.

i find the action a little too high.. should i go get it adjusted by a pro or do it on my own? and if i were to get a tech to do it, how much would it cost?

Your trem probably went up . Get a tech to set your strat up for 10's , it could lead to your neck warping if you don't . Meanwhile tune it half step down and that should temporally solve your string height.

Yeap, it would be better if you took it for a complete professional setup. Most places charge about $50 IIRC. From what I've heard, the better people to set up your guitar are KC from Maestro, Beez, and Malcom. Just do a search on the forums.

while you can send it off to pros to set it up for you, it doesn't hurt to learn how to do that yourself

but we need information:

1. what kind of bridge you have

2. what was the previous string gauge

after a setup? u mean? quite confusing. anyway, what kind of bridge are u using? was set up to the right gauge, wasnt it? recalled once, my stupidity, the action suddenly became high when i jus restringed. turned out, it didnt go in the saddle slots properly, i mean all strings.lol.
