Acoustic problem treated

I was having this problem in my home studio. somehow the sound just don't seem to come out direct from my speakers.

After checking around, I was recommended to use Vicoustic panels (bought from Sim Lim Sq Esden, Raymond).

The result is really amazing, super clean sound after adding the panels to the walls and ceiling.

I think home studio people (or maybe pro studio also) should use it. very affordable..

It is really no point to invest in expensive speakers without treating the room acoustically.

Anyone has the same problem like mine?

errr har? what's your problem again? acoustics? speakers? grounding?

sorry could you please rephrase it. so is your speakers working? what speakers?

Haha Jay you sound like a Vicoustic employee shamelessly plugging the product =P

I'm looking to purchase some Vicoustic products soon too! You say cheap, but I remember calling Resolution to enquire about the Flexi Screen, I got $600+ which is more expensive than the SE Reflexion filter.

How's the SE relection filter? work the same as the Flexi screen?

Do you think I should get the Flexi screen lite ($100+) or SE? ($?)

No problem now after adding the acoutic panel. My speakers (Genelec) sound great now. Can really tell the difference before and after.

Does anyone know what is the best way to stick the panel on the wall?

The glue from vicoustic is rather expensive, I heard some people use industrial glue (carpet glue) and it works fine.

But it is so fixed that you will have problem removing it the next time if you plan to re-position the panel.

I use heavy duty double-sided tape but sometime it can't hold long especially those on the ceiling. Any suggestion?

vicoustic is really good, i'm using the flexi screen lite. it was my friend (zvirus) who introduced to me too.

my advice is if you're going to invest in the panels and already saved so much cash from buying other overrated brands, you might as well just buy the glue specially for vicoustic cos if the other types of glue damages your panels , there's no one to point the "WTF is going wrong" finger to except yourself.

would 3M scotch tape work? or glue the panels to a chipboard then 3M scotch heavy duty to your walls. so it's easily removable etc.

Thanks, man!

I was trying out just now. Glue the panel to a sheet of PVC core (0.6mm, ATM card thickness), then stick it on the wall. Even if we remove it next time, it will not demage the acoustic panel.

Ya, agree with you about buying the proper glue instead of saving by using carpet glue..

You should try mounting it about an inch off the wall, the air gap will extend the low frequency absorption of the panels! The bigger the gap the more low end absorbed =)

When buying acoustic panels and stuff, especially bass traps. Most importantly, you need to noe wat is the specs of the panels. What range of frequencies does it cover? I would highly recommend you to analyse ur room acoustics, because you might not be placing sufficient treatment in your room.

dude! how much is the flexi screen lite? and where did you get yours?

I got mine for $169 at Sim Lim Sq Esden, pretty good! It is like a semi circle thing that wraps the mic and so we need not worry about any reflection outside. The metal mic clamp also works fine.

Used it to do some vocal recordings. Sound is pretty clean after using that.

I already bought 4 Mega Bass traps (vicoustic), how many do we have to place on every corner? I'm putting only 1 at each corner at listening position. Do you think it is sufficient?
