quite a few brands in the market offering this. stuff like rainsong, composite acoustics and emerald guitars.

from what i heard it has a unique sound, somewhat a lil diff from a guitar made of wood but its pretty much indestructible.

Hmm.

I've heard contradicting recounts of carbon fibre guitars, and whether or not they can stand the humidity in Singapore (I'm not sure ok? dun flame me just yet).

But from my point of view.. if we can have vehicle parts (e.g. spoilers, fenders etc) made out of carbon fibre and they're exposed to the outdoor elements here in singapore then they should be alright eh?

What say you guys???

No question about the durability.
Its about the tone I guess. I'll hear one, see if it works for me... and decide.

haha. carbon fibre is nothing like wood. im sure u could dip it in water and it will still turn out fine. it doesnt absorb water and is pretty much resistant to heat. one account of a sevenstring forumite who owns a rainsong says he once fell down a flight of steps riding his acoustic and the only damage was surface scratching and considering he weighed 300lbs. carbon graphite is stronger than steel i suppose. and i think it makes quite a cool looking instrument. but when i get a budget for an acoustic then i shall consider all these options but i guess carbon fibre guitars are a good option.

Hmm.

From what i have read, RainSong guitars have good balanced tones and they have pretty good sustain.

I guess when you're dealing with such dense materials sustain really goes without saying.

i'm assuming carbon fiber tecnology to be the same as fiber glass tech.

you need the carbon fibre cloth (yes... its nicely weaved cloth for some types like those zhhhngggg my car carbon fiber parts) and a binding agent which is commonly thermosetting plastic that will cure and stays hard even when you apply heat.

with such a composite structure.... i don't think its afraid of humidity at all compared to say... uhm... wood?

YIKES!!! 8O Geez its ugly,
It looks like an assault rifle,
BUT who knows it may sound great!!
I'll have to try it to make up my mind.

Hmm.

Well if you could afford to thrash it, get your roadies to bring in that crane which is used to hoist your custom-made gazillion-dollar lighting rig, then use the crane to swing it against a brick wall.

Voila.

Just kidding lah.
