Acoustic Guitars - Quality VS Price

Hi guys I just wanted to ask your opinion on my situation here. I'm looking to buy an acoustic guitar, but I don't read much about them and don't know much about acoustic guitars in general(i'm more of an electric player).

I'm just curious as to what models you guys might recommend or if you have any contacts who are interested in selling their acoustic guitars for a cheap price. Of course I'd prefer a first hand model. My budget is anywhere from 100+ to 300+, maybe even more, the point is I want something that is value for money. If you guys can recommend a good 100+ dollar guitar for me I'd be thankful. I just want to use it at home for fun and bring it to camp to practice, so tone and stuff is not really a big issue for me. I just don't any problems to arise from it(my first acoustic had lots of fret buzz, thanks alot Davis Guitars).

Lol Davis does not make the guitars, what's the sarcasm for? If you don't want any problems to arise from your guitar you still got to inspect the guitars yourself at the end of the day. With that said, I think you should try out some entry-level Corts or Yamahas. IMHO they have reasonably good guitars for the price you are willing to fork out.

No offence intended to Davis, I don't want this thread to end up another flame war or something. I just had to say it because suay2 it was my first guitar ever and I had to encounter that. That was sometime around 4 years ago and I've not gotten a new acoustic since. Thanks for the suggestions guys...

check out Cort's guitars.
they do have very nice ones at a very reasonable price.
u can find them at Swee Lee or Luthermusic.

are you then attributing your 'suay'ness to Davis?

Can we just drop the subject already, sub? I think Davis is a rather reputable shop and I don't want to bring down its name, I'm just saying that I got a bad guitar from them, and their customer service after that to me was not very good in a sense. But I still got another guitar from them a few years after that, and it was ok. The point being you gotta bring along an experienced person with you when you buy from the shop.

gjtaylor - I already bought a Yamaha, thanks anyway bro...

of course, you shouldn't make that kinda statement in the first place... 8-) if you go to a shop armed with certain info like price range, certain attributes of the guitar, what you hope to hear form the guitar, i think the sales people can help you from there. of course, to detect a lemon, it's good to get experienced people to tag along...

anyway, if you like the profile of an electric guitar neck in an acoustic:

thats very strange. when i bought a 50 dollar guitar from davis (For the heck of it, its now vandalised languishing somewhere within NTU) obviously I wasn't really going to care if it snapped in two (ok I would), so fret buzz is obviously not something i'm going to blame davis for.

but seriously, once i went there to try out guitars and the auntie (sorry i really don't know her name, I always see her there?) she was staring at me like "mister please hurry and buy, you are only trying a $100-$150 guitar so stop wasting our time and floor space already" type of look so that is one reason I don't like trying out stuff at davis, because she is always there.

so i make it a point to only talk to other davis salespersons other than her. Nothing personal, just that i am a docile person and I don't want to suffer under the piercing and icy-cold stares of a pissed lao-ban-niang

don;'t buy the exotic wood series...first,the amplification is not that good...and mainly in my opinion, its just a pretty piece of wood...

yes,do try maestro...takamine from davis too. ibanez wouldn't be a good choice..their guitars are inconsistant, from what a friend told me...its like the guitar you play on display sounds great, but the one they take out from the storage place might not be as nice...

just try walking around peninsula plaza...there are a ton of shops..give them a visit and try the acoustics till you find the special one..
