Acoustic Guitar Preamp

Hi,

I have a Washburn WD7SCE acoustic guitar installed with a preamp. Today, when I connected my guitar to the PC and recorded using Audacity, I realized that the 1st and 6th string is very soft as compared to other strings in terms of volume. Especially the 1st string. I would like to find out whether is this normal for an acoustic guitar preamp or is there problem with the setup.

Thank you and hope to hear advice from the experts soon or anyone who has similar experience.

Nope, it's not normal. That's all I know, though. I'm not sure how to fix it. Best to bring to a guitar tech and have it checked out.

its probably the saddle not sitting flush on the pickup. try using a large flat head screw driver to push the saddle in so that it sits in nicely. if that doesn't change anything, replace the pickup.

Does it matter the type of pickup that is installed? For example contact or under-saddle pickup. At first, I suspect the pickup is at the center, that's why the 1st and 6th strings that are at the side will get the least amplification. But there is a noticeable different with the string just next to them.

yours should be an undersaddle pickup. as previously mentioned if pushing the saddle further in does not help, your pickup is probably spoilt.

if not take the saddle out and level it out with sandpaper on the flat table top..

used 320 grit sandpaper then fit in back with the downward pressure...that should work

cheers jarvis
