Can the guitar amp used for bass?

not adviseable, the bass frequencies would tear the speaker cone...

not sure, wont the guitar amp have a built-in low pass filter so that low frequencies are rolled-off? likewise it would be opposite for bass amp which a high pass filter will remove higher frequency?

Generally not advisable, as the low frequencies can clip the speakers, or blow it (as subversion said). However, it can be done, though it usually doesn't sound that great. I tried it once, and there was too much breakup and I was afraid to play it loud for fear of the speaker blowing.
