Ableton Live/FCB1010 Midi Mapping Problem

hi, i'm very new to the world of midi and live looping, and am having a monster of a headache with a problem in my midi mapping.

Basically i'm using the FCB to trigger off recordings on the fly with Live. I managed to get Live to recognise the FCB1010 and have set pedal 1 (bank 00) to trigger the Track Launch button with pedal 2 stopping the track.

So i begin recording my 1st loop into track '2' by stepping on pedal 1. After recording one bar, i stepped on pedal 1 again to trigger the freshly recorded loop to begin playback. However that's when the problem begins as my FCB starts sending a message to Live to set pedal 1 to launch playback of the clip I just recorded.

Live sends me a prompt that reads "The selected controller conflicts with the previous mapping to '2'|track Launch. Do you want to replace the previous mapping?". If I click yes, pedal 1 is set to launch playback of the clip I just recorded instead of remaining as the trigger for "Track Launch".

Can anyone advise me how to stop the FCB from sending out this erroneous message to Live? getting pretty frustrated here.....

tnx,
Wendy

It sounds like you still have the midi mapping button up the top of the screen enabled. Once you map the foot pedals you should turn it off otherwise live will try to remap each time you press it.

well I DID escape from the midi global setting on my FCB1010 once I've programmed my MIDI channels. Is that wat you meant when you mentioned "midi mapping button up the top of the screen"? Is there any way I can LOCK the midi setting from Live?

I meant the midi button in the ableton live gui. When you press the "midi" button near the "keys" the gui changes colour, you enter midi assign mode and you can see the midi numbers printed on top of the gui buttons they control. If you press the midi button again it goes back to normal mode. It sounded like you were still in midi assign mode which was why you were getting that error message.

I left the midi mode after assigning the midi note to my clip launch button and began loop recording within the normal mode. it is after i finished recording and start playing back the freshly recorded clip that my Live kinda hangs. wen i switch back to Midi mode, i see a prompt asking me if I really wish to change my midi mapping.

thanks for taking the time to try and help so far, but would you happen to be able to offer me a few probabilities on wat's happening here so i can try to troubleshoot with other directions?

wooho my fren just figured out the problem for me and the looping works now! it was all because i had a midi going out from my PC into the FCB1010 at the same time. removing that cable IMMEDIATELY resolved the issue. thank god.

but now i have an issue where my first loop doesnt seem to sync with sub sequent loops. gona try and figure that out now. cheers :)
