A noob question!

Hi guys, i'm new here, and i'm gonna buy my first electric guitar in 2 weeks.
Just wanna ask, all amplifiers can be used for all guitars right? Or theres some type of amplifiers that can only be used for some guitars?

And, which guitar do you guys recommend? My budget is around $500-600, and i like to play rock songs.

sup.
i just started learning the e guit, i have an ibanezsa120. got mine for 450+, reasonable and a shiok guit.
i have a roland cube 20x.
im not pro but i reckon these are pretty good(:
post pics of your gear when u get em :D

vicki(:

Obviously; guitar amps for electric guitars, bass amps for bass guitars and acoustic amps mostly for acoustic guitars!

With that budget.. Hmmm.. You just want the guitar only? Or with a decent amp?
And any preference? A strat type guitar, a les paul, an SG?
Your influences?

I'm influenced by Slash from Velvet Revolver (formerly in GNR), and that dude who play the Canon Rock.
Hmm, i would prefer a les paul, and with that budget i only want a guitar, the amp doesn't need to be so good, just a okay one for practicing,

dude.it's actually the guitar dont need to be so good, the amp good one.
if you're lucky, you could get 2nd hand epi lp from the buy/sell section and at least 100 or 200 to spare to get pretty decent amp like the vox da5.

Actually i went to Peninsula and saw a epi lp for $400, so i have about $100 to spare, but i don't know whether should i buy it or not.

playing rock => are you planning on relying on your amp for the main source of drive?

if so, make sure you choose wisely

IIRC, the roland cubes and peavey's are pretty good?
someone please clarify on this matter!

i wouldnt want you to have a repeat of my experience with my 15cdr (ok it's not that bad, but i would've prefered better!)

well,go have a feel and touch of it.really interested in it then go get it.
cos it's hardly to get an epi lp standard at 400.
vox da5 or roland cube.for amps.

i agree very much with screamfest. i heard marshall amps are good. maybe get that one. the guitars are secondary

The better Les Pauls offered by Epiphone would be their Les Paul Ultra..
Of course, this is above your budget.. Remember, the amplifier is the most important part of your gear..
I've said this too many times, but here it goes: A 100 dollar guitar going through a 5000 dollars amplifier would sound much better compared to a 5000 dollar guitar going through a 100 dollar amplifier!
If, your amp's default drive is unsatisfactory to you, do consider certain pedals. (Hence choose an amp that goes well with pedals!)

vox da5 - should be 200 or less i think.
roland cube - im not sure.can check on the buy/sell section.i saw a couple of roland cube threads.
marshall mg15cdr - i dont really fancy it.it cost less than 200.

as i said, i personally like da5 and roland cube.
