I'd prefer a wider dynamic range, softer go softer, louder go louder. I think that'll contribute to a better sense of build up, and the eventual "cool down" of the song.

ah, why didn't I think of that when mixing/composing. It's so simple but it means a lot. So much for listening to post-rock bands. Thanks much for the tip!

bro, is that your band's myspace?
i like it man. its very relaxed. i'm talking about both that myspace page and that song.

but i still love your metal riff on your other thread. how the heck do you get inspirations to create such a cool metal riff?

Small matter. Glad to be of use. (And yeah, was thinking of Sigur Ros when I wrote that.)

haha, that's amusing, since of all the major post-rock bands, the one I listen to least is Sigur Ros.

and yeah jugman, that's my band's myspace, though there's not much stuff there now. hehe. thanks, i think i'll bump the metal riffs thread now. go and post stuff there!

I just want to update and say I sent the raw tracks to audio_fuzz here for some FOC mixing action, and he did a decent job with what little was there. here's the newly mixed track, with 100% more vocal samples: rec_8_audiofuzz_mix2.mp3

would sincerely appreciate any comments!

new track, titled "Prequel". It's an intro of sorts to another song, "The Only Easy Day was Yesterday". Kind of like an overture. For me, this song is about hope.

as usual, any comments/critiques are welcome.

Here's a new mix, "Quell the Guilty Heart".

while they were sleeping -- Quell the Guilty Heart

Life is full of mistakes. This is a plea for help to quell the guilty heart, for it is far more treacherous than a thousand sinking avalances.

we're in the middle of re-tracking all our songs and planning to record live drums soon. Stay tuned for an EP :)

dir, how should i say this.... a friend across the margin sounds very good. I'd been wondering hard, what that song would be like with actual drums + vox.
Suuuupa hit!

thanks for the comments.

here's a new mix, "We Don't Sleep on the Beach Anymore".

a cookie to whoever gets the reference.

while they were sleeping -- We Don't Sleep On the Beach Anymore

what makes a person lead the life he never wanted for himself, and under what circumstances are those reasons anymore a reality or a valid impetus for all those other people living in desperate conditions, themselves desperate for a ticket out from their eternal hell? much like these people, we don’t want to think about them, for indeed it is a sad state of affair, and the day that the thought falls through our heads that we’re never invincible as a society, will be the day when angels rise among men to give us what we always had in ourselves.

update: I just want to say I've finished putting up new mixes on all the 5 songs we have. They are available to stream for your listening pleasure at both our myspace and thesixtyone.com link above. If you like/hate what you listen please drop a comment since I spent quite some time mixing all the songs myself and would like to hear how to improve them, before releasing them as an EP.
