In singapore, practically everywhere is safe. Just avoid places like Geylang, which is the red-light district. :]
if you're on a tight budget, you could try a backpacker's lodge. there're quite a few around. I don't know any prices though. hahaha. hope this is helpful! :wink:

theres a hotel 81 ... just in between park lane shopping centre and brash basah ... DEFintely in centre of singapore. near guitar shops in brash basah and parklane . mrt is at doby ghaut ... bout 5 mins walk away or 7 + mins to bugis / city hall ... defintely central ... good place to stay in

hotel 81 bencoolen ... smack in between park lane ( all music . music factory + a few fender shops and city music @ peace centre) and brash basah ( swee lee + ranking sports and a few others ) within walking distance to peninsular plaza ( davis music , guitar connection , guitar 77) by far the best
and best of all . its a clean bduget hotel (albiet a shady reputatiON : *hint hint* ur "neighbours" in the room next door may have 8O "certain" noises )

singapore is an amazing country! one of the safest, i feel. child prostitution, if caught is a very very serious crime. i dont know what's the punishment because i never heard of such case.
i am sure you have heard about the kid who was cane for vandalizing. not just a slap on the hand mind you.

lol..one thing about geylang..theres some really nice food there! and now being the durian season again..lots of D24!! yum yum!! unless you hates them hee :wink:
eurgh i don't really like durians! hahahahaha. the worst part is my mum likes to eat them, and being the sadist she is, she'll eat it under my nose and watch me squirm. LOL!
anyway, yeah, there are good eating places in geylang! just close one eye when you go there, lots of people 'hanging around' lol :]
