7 string question - Dean Vendetta 1.7 or Schecter Damien 7??

Hi guys, need your opinions on these 2 guitars. Been considering a 7 string. I can get the Vendetta new for a tad more in terms of money imported from the States on eBay. The Schecter is used, not sure of condition as I havn't seen it yet, and there has been a pickup swap from EMG HZ's to Duncan Designed H105 7's, which is an upgrade (tone is enhanced due to active electronics, possibly) AND a downgrade (price-wise) altogether. This might be an issue when I sell, which as I see it I probably will when I'm ready to get a high end Agile/ Ibanez.

Thanks!

i will get the schecter cause i won't sell it after that. usually i will keep it. if you wanna think of selling it away and worrying about losing money in the end , then just save up till you ready to get a high end ibanez. the best way.

Sub: I don't think I'll mind either. It's the other features I'm more worried about - build quality, feel and pickups. Where did you get from by the way? The Dean site barely says anything about the Vendettas, it's like they're marketing them as real cheap guitars that aren't meant to last (Solid wood body? Sure explains a lot..).

Schecters seem well built and generally bang for buck.

The Dean Vendettas DO look like they are catered for budget minded players or beginners.

I'd go for the Schecter.

+1 to schecter, even the entry-level OMEN 7 feels & sounds great for the money.

from Dean: With four models to choose from, the Vendettas have string through body design, classic Dean V Ferrule pattern, dual Humbuckers, 25.5 scale, and solid mahogany bodies with a maple neck with a rosewood finger board.

I was recently looking around for a 7-string guitar and a friend told me about Peavey Predator 7-String.

I went to Swee Lee (Bras Basah) to test it out and I was totally blown away! The guitars are made in Korea and are no longer in production. The pickups got bite and were not muddy. The neck is very comfortable and solid. Poplar body. They come either with Floyd Rose or Fixed Bridges. And the best part is that they only cost $399!!!

I bought the floyd rose one and I am loving it.

Just go and check it out. It'll be worth your while and judge by the sound and feel; not the brand. :p

Used to own one Peavey Predator, bought it around 270 (no bag just the guitar @ SW) & I agree it sounds great, thick & responsive, not to mention the stable generic FR. Too bad sold it :(

I've started to play 7's out of curiosity as well & since then I've never looked back (now might consider 8's). Word of advise is to try that will suite your current need(s).

I had the Peavey 7 string and currently Vendetta 1.7. 1 thing to note that although some seller advertised the Dean as a mahogany body, its actually basswood with "mahogany" finishing. Felt cheated by that, knew only after buying. It's still a reliable guitar and maybe a change of pickups might help but tonewise the peavey sounds better. If only its a 24 fret, It'd be a keeper. Sold mine too.
