kk.. as the amp is damn jialat to transport. And i got a carpenter friend, can u tel me what might possibly happen?
the speakers and pre/power amp section are connected like a normal head/cab is connected right? if i remove the circuitry what must i becareful of?
this is a project for after my exams.. so i need to do some research also..

Custom hardcase can be pricey. There is a waiting time too.

I have a lobang where you submit the dimension of your item, and then they fabricate the "Flightcase" to your specs, with padding and all. The thing is that it's not produced locally, so may wait a little longer. Price wise I also not sure how much cheaper too.

There are local custom shops, but I understand it's not cheap. Maybe you can get a couple of quotes first then we can compare.

I have to warn you that a carpenter will not know how to remove and install the electronics. But he can surely do a much better cosmetic job.

I have to check it out, as maybe have to remove some of the electronics before attemping to "CUT" it in half.

yup.. according to the dude.. he said remove everything. as the saw dust would be EVERYWHERE. i think the main issue is the removal of the electronics. ive been analysing my amp and it seems

only 4 screws are holding the electronics to the chasis.
i hope to be able to remove the entire thing at one go...
then disconnect/remove the speakers

sounds possible? yes/no??

is there any where to buy tolex from singapore?...and the grill cloth?.. since im going to cut the cabinet in to two segments.. i was thinking might as well redo the tolex in a different colour.. and customise the look of the head section.
was thinking rough brown tolex and a beige/cream grill cloth ..
make it a matching head and cab. ( mesa boogie rip off )

If i were to order from the websites i found its damn blardy expensive... would other materials suffice???
maybe i could go find those car seat leather people ?? or sofa makers? to source for the material?... as i have no idea what tolex is.. apparently only used for amp-skin.

anyone knows what tolex is made of? issit a patented material on its own ..or a fancy name used by amp manufacturers??

If u wanna get locally and cheap, try Spot light :) I recalling seeing some synthetic material similar to tolex. I bought some tan cloth there and used it as grill cloth on my mesa.

thanks man.. yea i was thinking spotlight myself... will check it out.

but is the vinyl stuff they have is thick/durable enough to resemble tolex??

And i really wanna know what tolex is.... issit a fancy name for vinyl?? or a different material...

Hold it firmly and pull it out. If u have difficulty just wriggle em a bit. Dun screw or turn em, u risk breaking off the pins if u overdo it.

maybe you can check out this shop that sells tubes for hi fi equipment at burlington square. i remember seeing all kinds of tubes...even JJ and telefunken
