5 string 1k bass

mann i've finally saved up enough for something < $1k!!! hopefully under 2k tho, hence i cant afford Bong's Read bass (man that thing is awesome)

any reccomendations for a 5 string-er? personally i like the maple fretboard and i adore the Jazz/Hum(MM) pickup config that u see on LAKLANDs, Ibanez RDs, etc. i also like the flat necks Ibanez has to offer in all their basses...

i'm thinking of an Ibanez MIJ, maybe the RD 605. somehow singapore doesnt have any variety for us to choose from =(

jazz/mm choices are limited. i think you pretty much mentioned the major j/mm basses out there. There's the MTD kingston heir to consider. i think it's in your budget.

for choices other than j/mm you could check out The Bass Company. they look pretty good and cheap. or the G&L tribute basses too. I would have recommended 3noteabar's TRB (i'm a TRB person) but that was sold already...

cool... hmm i think the TRB is abit too chunky for me... i'm an ibanez freak, i swear by fast and thin necks... =X i might order the Ibanez RD 605 from japan...

status energy: any info/site/pics on that one? i've been so busy lately i havent had the time to surf around the entire net to check out those brands that arent "well-known"...

damn if i had the $, i'd buy an F bass like bong's. or his jack read. siggh!

two gd bassists in singapore own Fbasses that are nearly identical:
Ig. Bong and Colin (sumtin) (once again i'm bad at names)
i saw both their Fbasses within a week. my brains are officially damaged, the only remedy is to buy a new bass.

i think i'm fixated on the Ibanez MIJ RD 605

well so there goes a japan ibanez. any tips on a US bass worth of 1.5k-2k SGD? warmoth geckos seem to be above that range... 1st hand =)

you can download then send to them .. or you can call them up and make an order lah ... i never order from them before but i read the ordering instructions that's what they say .. but you have to like stay up late just to call them .. US mah ..

try to match our time with their time lah .. then see when it's convenient to call them up ... you can call to ask advice also .. they are nice people lah .. ask them all the questions you want .. i think your choices may change also .. =) ..

There this place beside Guitar Gallery (you know where that is right? ) which also deals in Ibanez stuffs, go talk to them and see if they have what you want. They have a lot of stuff kept secretly in their warehouse.
