Hi all Guitar gurus,

I have been buying Elixir strings for my Tacoma from one active person in SG. I do love Elixir but the only problem the 4th string bursting has left me with a lot of sets w/o 4th string. I had chgecked and verified that Elixir does NOT sell loose 4th string.

For economical reasons, does any bros there can recommend any loose 4th string that can complement Elixir softness and where can I get them.

At present, I think I have 6 sets of Elixirs exhausted of G strings....

Many thanks for any help / lobang.

Cheers

Well, you can buy them online. Pricey but it beats buying a whole set just for a string.

Google a bit... there are several online shops that sell strings. Some charge very high shipping fees while some just don't do overseas... sometimes, you just need to get involved with international forums and hook up with vendors there.

Can't help with your original question, but why is your 4th string bursting so often? Where is it breaking? Perhaps you should look into that?

oh its pretty common for elixirs for the G to snap. if u were living in the US, elixir would send u a whole set as replacement for free. from the discussions on TGP, it seems that baking the 'web' coating onto the strings make them brittle thus prone to snapping. if i were u and the problem persists often enough, i would try looking for a different brand of string, say the titanium reinforced ones by ernie ball, am using them at the moment as test set, so far so good, sounds pretty good after 2 weeks of having them strung on.

Oh yes, they're good. I'm using them for my guitar right now and they sound perfect.

My old Elixir strings sounds really awesome, then it got rusty so I decided to try out this brand to see how it goes and I was really glad I tried. Elixir Nanoweb Coating and the Ernie Ball Coated Titanium acoustic strings are awesome. They're both good brands.

Ernie Ball Titanium Accoustic

Hi all,

sorry but just read replies to my querry.

Where can I get them in Singapore - looking to get in minimum of 10 sets?

woah, it's been a few years since this was discussed.

IMO I think you should check your nut / saddle to see if there are any sharp edges first before investing in a batch of 10.
