Hey, people, I know it's pretty cliched when ask about one's favourite guitarst, but hey, let's make it more fun, choose only three of your greatests axe wizards and why (eg: technique, charisma and stuff)

1. Al Di Meola
2. Allan Holdsworth
3. Steve Vai

I dun really know why but they are very different from most guitarist and they have very distinct styles.

Ho yeah, totally forgot mine... d'oh:

1) Jimi Hendrix - Totally revolutionized music itself. No other person has impacted guitar playing like he has. Also innovated the use of multiple effects pedals for his star spangled performances.

2) Les Paul - Not only an awesome jazz guitar player with all that bright sparkely jazzy tone, but also had massively contributed to music technology. Designed one of the greatest axes of all time. Slash, Steve Millar, Brian May and Keith Richards don't salute him for nothing...

3) Stevie Ray Vaughan - To me, he's the most soulful player ever. Texas blues never sounded better. Totally love his tone and 'looseness' when playing. Although he's a fan of Hendrix, I think he really did covers that are comparable (or sometimes better) than the original ones by Hendrix himself.

You all should check out Paul Das, he plays at the House Of Rock in Tg Pagar. One of the best local guitarists I have ever seen. the Malmsteen of Singapore

1] Jeff Beck, imo his control of the instrument is 2nd to none...
2] -
3] -

theres numerous guitarists i can put in 2nd & 3rd so i'm leaving it blank...

Nah .. Dont lock it..

We'll just try to justify why we think our choices are there.. perhaps could open some people's ears.. Who knows.. it took soft.com to open me to Jeff Beck.. and its been great.

I;d say

1) SRV - great work making the guitar sing
2) Slash - Great feel in band situations.. Grat to learn some phrasing from him
3.) John Petrucci - Very technical player.. Plays in modern styles and can add alot of feel to a song as well.

There we go.. Hopefully someone will find that useful..

1) Steve Vai (my all-time favourite) - wonderful showsmanship + the skills that delivers...

2) Malmsteen - bring on the neo-classical flavour!!

3) Slash - melody meets substance!!

1. Steve Vai - he's beyond the boundaries of guitar playing

2. Jim Hendrix - need no introduction

3. Nuno Bettencourt - no reason, i just like his playing style.

Only 3 ah?

1) Wes Montgomery - no picks, lotz of octaves playing, grandpa of jazz guitar.
2) Grant Green
3) Django Reinhardt

guitar has another side called "Jazz" right?

Ho yeah. I've heard Wes and Django, but never heard of Grant Green. Anyway, there was this song Django did with Les Paul and Chet Atkins called Limehouse Blues. Really gives me a light, happy mood
