Hi guys. I just inherited a 27 year old Cimar by Ibanez acoustic guitar. Model number D-300. How much roughly does it cost now. Its in good condition, but the colour of the guitar has gone funny. I heard my uncle bought it at 50 dollars last time.

This are pics of my 26 year old gutiar. Anyone can tell me why the colour gone all weird (It was kept in a storeroom all this time in a leather bag)? It was suppose to be like beige. How can i fix the colour? I notice that it is getting lighter after i polished and kept it out in the open. Maybe its just me. haha

looks very vintage man...congrats....seems like a nice seasoned guitar....the frets seems in good cond also....care to share with us how's the sound like?

Well, it looks seasoned thats all. haha. It was hardly played. The frets are in great condition, in fact the whole guitar is basically in great condition(no scratches or dings) just this weird colour. Even the tuner are only slightly tarnished. The made in Japan sticker is still stuck to the back of the headstock. I might send it for refretting though, cos the frets are a bit dull, but thats just my personal preference. Nothing bad
Anyway, i have an Ovation Celebrity CSE24 and compared to that, the Cimar is much more mellow but the sound is much fuller. I guess its because the Ovation has an acoustic bowl and is a cutaway. The Cimar resonates very well too and has the perfect action setting. Easy to play. The neck is fatter than the ovation though, but still very comfortable. I think i am starting to love this gutiar more than my Ovation. Haha

don't trash the guitar k. Then can pass down to your kids and your kids can pass down to their kids and they can pass it down to their kids! And you get my drift aye?:) It'd be pretty cool if you do that. Then it might appear on guiness world records. Ok thinking too much. Hehehe.

I take great care of my guitars. Polish them everytime i change strings, which is like every month. And wipe them down after every play. But the colour is just bothering me. I feel like laughing everytime i see it. It has patches of uneven tanning.

Dude, i have the same guitar...I just took it to be restored...it was my dad's back in the 80...he bought it in 1981 and almost never played it...so it's in perfect shape...i calibrated it, polished it and changed a few things...like the pins... it's an excelent guitar, and i kind of like the funny colour yours have...i guess it was the sun or humidity.

Probably with age the colour would peel off and polish would thin the finish therefore peeling the paint of, the cloth used to polish got paint? :)

Probably to 'fix' the colour you mean Repaint?

Hey, I have a Cimar electric guitar. Been with me for almost 20 yrs now. Didn't know Ibanez made them. Still sounds great...

I believe not all Cimar's are by Ibanez. It was an independent brand name before Ibanez got it to produce its low end range with a label Cimar by Ibanez.
