you can find stores that sell stuff like that around beach road, but i know there's one store at the esplanade that sells movie and comic stuff (like LOTR rings and Harry Potter Wands) and i saw a katana selling there last time i went. Also you can try that store...um..Caesar's i think. there's one at Suntec City on the 3rd or 4th floor which sells all sorts of swords. they have Aragorn's sword, katanas, Arwen's sword, all sorts of awesome stuff. claymore swords, conan swords, it's awesome.

also, another road singapore has in case of emergencies is the really wide road leading up to changi airport. the middle is essencially potted vegetation that can be removed, and it's long and straight and when you remove the plants in the middle you'll find the resulting space is really wide because you have wide roads going in both directions now opened up for usage. you'll notice the roads to and from changi airport are really wide, but traffic to and from changi airport isn't THAT high.

Lim Chu Kang road, as Vaiyen has mentioned, is the back up runway. Sometime last year (or the year before) there was a big scale exercise conducted for the media where the entire limchukang road was converted into a runway.

i believe a few planes actually landed as part of the exercise. came out in the papers.

I remember him saying something about trees that move out of the way or something

he was the best teacher ever! half the time he talked about his own history, the bombings in singapore in the war when he was at school and his friends being killed.

I still remember a story about a chinese kid getting a new camera for his 13th birthday and he was taking photos of the racial fights for a newspaper and was laying on the front of a car and then getting slashed down the back with a mcahete and stumbling into a police station which was very close by and fell on the floor and died.

I miss him I hope he is still ok, he is about 81 now

oh and the thing about the road is he told the class a story about a plane being hijacked and somehow, they landed on this road and the military and police were there and they came and got the hijackrs. not sure how true it was but this would have been in the 1970's i assume/

oh the plane and hijackers....when i was in BMT at Tekong the head of the BMTC center was apparently one of the commandos sent in to stabilize the situation. apparently he was the person who fired the opening shot. man, those redhats are hard core.

i think those that were sent in aint norm commandos..but the SOF(Special Operation Force) but you have to be commando to be sof a :wink:
they sure are hardcore :twisted:
