$100+ guitars?

Guys , dun associate price with quality... it only applys to guitar above the $600
low end guitars will always be of lower quality..

its not a matter of $300 guitars are definitely better then $200 guitars...
get some one experienced to point out to you which is better and why.
dont use price as your main measure of quality.

being an advocate of reality, i would urge you to try out the guitars before you buy, regardless of the price tag. we might just come across something that is really suitable for us, even if it's something at the lower price bracket. cheap doesn't mean that it's a total dud, but chances are, the dud units are always at the cheaper end.

i'm not a fan of starter kits because they are more about misses rather than hits. the only worthy starter pack i've come across is the SX GG-1 which is featured in SOFT's review database. that aside, i'd rather you invest in a good guitar first then hunt for a suitable amp.

Why not a second hand guitar? There are some cheap deals going on. Check out Luther's or Yahoo auctions. For $200 you can get a semi decent guitar and an amp.I do not believe in getting a classy first hand guitar. Get a work horse one instead.Should try to get one to tell you that it requires work and discilpline to play well.Also the type of music is impt.Let your friend explore thr diiferent types LP,Strat etc

I bought the Yamaha starter package when I started learning guitar, the guitar included inside is the EG112. I found the neck to be surprisingly good, I think it could be the same neck that they use for the lower end Pacificas. The pickups will definitely need to be swapped out in the long run though, it has a very bland clean tone while the humbucker is excessively muddy when the signal is distorted. I plan to use this as a project guitar after getting another guitar (planning to buy a Schecter C-1 Plus), gonna change the HSS pickups, swap tuners, and revamp some of its cosmetics (cosmetics etc). But I would recommend this guitar to beginners just starting out, 2nd hand ones can be found for 100+ or even lower, depending on the condition.
