This is my very first blog post and it has been a long, long while since I actually blogged. So here goes...
The 100 Bands Festival has been nothing short of amazing. The idea of actually having a 100 acts to play on one venue and two stages is actually an innovative idea. Although I was a little skeptical of the venue at first, I eventually changed my mind about it. Having it at the heartlands is rather a refreshing change for once. More people can be reached out this way so that people actually know of the local bands and that our local bands are equally good as the U.S of A counterparts.
I thought it was impossible to actually get a 100 bands or acts together and perform within the span of 3 weeks but I was proven wrong. The organisers have done well for this event in getting 100 bands and arranging for sound system, lights, smoke machines and setting up of the two stages. So kudos to that!
It was also nice to see lots of new upcoming local bands performing, giving it their all on stage over the span of the 3 weeks. It was also nice to see some of the established bands like A Vacant Affair, Cesspit, The Full Pledge Munkees etc tearing up the stage once more. They may be old but they sure ain't done yet!
Sadly, I was only able to attend 2 out of this 6 day events as I had other important commitments which I had to pay attention to. However, during the two days I was there, three different bands of very different genre really caught my eyes and ears. They were Silhouette, Anechois and the last one needs no introduction at all. It is none other than Caracal. These 3 bands have surely step it up. They have sounded way better than last I saw them on stage and I really hope their music, sound and brand can go really far beyond this little island we live in. They certainly have what it takes to pit with the best out there.
Like all good shows, it has to come to an end and 100 Bands Festival surely ended well. I sincerely hope 100 Bands Festival continues on next year with a mix of old and new rising acts and maybe a new heartland location as well. There is so much more that I want to say but my eyes cannot take it anymore. My body is so tired and I am writing this post right after I got home from the festival. Kudos to the organisers for this successful event!
