been using .10 most of the time, from acoustic to electric. now, i plan to change my strings to .09. heard a lot about how change in gauges, no matter how minor, can cause stuff like tension problems.

as for .09, any other recommendations? i'm thinking of buying super slinky, but other choices would definitely be good. thanks!

tension changes would be there but it's not detrimental. it'll affect your playing if the set-up isn't revised to incorporate the changes (neck relief/ action/ intonation).

you might wanna try the .0095 set first?

nahhh....such a small change in your gauge size wont affect it enough to cause any detriment to your guitar...

i went from .09 to .12 to .10 and my guitar is fine...

I'd recommend DR Strings frm Davis, for $15 u get the strings+installation. A pack costs around $7 i think.

Davis only restring for u thats it, no adjustment done.

I use both 10s and 9s on different guitars ofcourse. You need to resetup ur guitars if u change gauges.

How do u know its fine? Slightest pull of the tension will definitely effected the neck. Even the slightest movement of the floyd springs already effected the guitar intonation.
Go check ur whole neck thru from top to bottom see if it's in tune. Any changes of the gauge will definitely makes ur intonation runs out. Ever wonder why you tune ur guitar with open strings and when u play towards the bottom it's out.

If you take the asal boleh(anything goes, don't care) attitute towards ur guitar ofcourse it's fine.

thanks for the help y'all!

another qn... so assuming i dont need to do anything with the neck or truss rod (fixed bridge btw) if i change from 0.010 to 0.0095... then months later, if i change from 0.0095 to 0.009, how?

I've been using 9s on my RG, but planning to use 11s on my next string change. A setup is definitely needed to ensure intonation and neck relief doesn't go haywire. I'm a DIY kinda guy, so the last time I went from 10s to 9s, I researched around, checked the ibanez user guide online and stuff. Eventually adjusted the truss rod, saddle, etc. myself. Since mine's a fixed bridge, it wasn't too intimidating.
