That was a GREAT gig. So nice to see how strong the bands that we've seen start out have become --- memorable songs , good playing... and remembering to have fun too. And good sound so we could actually hear the lyrics -- which is a bonus in this case because hey-these-guys-write-songs.
The line-up was very complementary - i think that's the word - as in all the bands suited one another... without being the same as one another.
I really hope The Guilt play more. As a debut show, they arrive fully-formed. And happily sound much more than a side project. Such songs! Such stature! Hoorah.
Paddlepop reminds me of My Writes when they were first starting out - obvious comparison maybe .... but good one too when you consider how My Writes have gone from strength to strength. And Paddlepop have got tunes
Quasimodo just keep getting better every time i see them. they do their catchy songs a milliontimes more justice now - and manage to play Libertines more together that Libertines.
The Zozi are rocking good fun anyway -- but wow a thousand times better when you can hear their lyrics as clear as they were that day. All hail TNT. All hail Zozi. Are they sons of the Boredphucks? Only if they like it
My Writes -- would this count as one of their best gigs? It was wonderful that the sound was suited to them; that they weren't crammed in on some bill w/ loads of other bands; that they were centre of attention. So it's even more of a pay-off they just did what they did best, didn't pose, and just demonstrated AGAIN what they're all about. They got the technique, the voice, the songs... but they've still got the edge too. It's still fresh. Aww what a great day out.
Thanks for this lovely show.
I don't need no baybeats because it will be hard to top this
