Vacation Gig For Student Rock Bands

If you are a student (upper secondary, junior college, ITE, polytechnic, university, etc) playing in a rock band, you may want to consider this.

We plan to organize a mini-gig for student rock bands during the December vacation. The date is tentatively 23rd or 24th of December 2010. Most likely it will be held in a suite room of a studio because this is a totally DIY effort with small operational budget.

Genre: Rock (which is quite general and extensive)
Criteria:
1. Your band should made up of mostly students (leeway may be given if you have a minority of non-students in your band, on case-by-case basis)
2. Your band should have at least 1 original song
3. Your band should be open to ideas on consumer creation, ie. how to make people be willing to pay to watch your show or to buy your CDs.

Ticket sales model: No door sales. Only pre-show sales. Reservation or sales can be done via the organizers or the bands. No compulsory number of tickets to be sold. Bands will get a certain percentage profit of tickets sold or reserved through them.

Tentatively still on.

At the planning stage now. Looking at the bands' responses.

However, this small gig is only meant for students' bands.

So bands without any students, like my band, The Misfit Ramones, will not be performing.
