I would like to inform you that Indonesian jazz pianist will be conducting a Jazz Workshop live in Singapore at Fern & Kiwi Bar Clarke Quay on 10th March 2015 at 07.30 pm for free.
Born February 5th, 1981, A native of Jakarta, Indonesia, Mr. Nial Djuliarso has performed in prestigious stages such as the Weill recital hall at Carnegie Hall in New York; the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Hague; Kennedy Center in Washington D.C; Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and Sarasota Jazz Festival, Florida. He performed at the inaugural TIJC in 2009 with his band. He was also part of a judging panel in the competition that year. He gave a workshop at the 2015 TIJC and performed at smiles, a local jazz club in Bangkok.
He's in Singapore to play at the 2015 Sing jazz festival with Christy Smith, an American bassist who's been living in Singapore since 1993. He's also a faculty at the sing jazz academy, held during the festival. Nial started playing piano at the age of 3. He received his bachelor of music degree from Berklee college of music in Boston, MA in 2004 and Artist Diploma from Juilliard school in New York in 2006. He has received numerous awards on performing and also composing.
He lived in New York city for 10 years. Currently living in Jakarta, He has performed/studied with many world-renowned musicians such as Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Barron, Hank Jones, Lewis Nash, Ernestine Anderson, Wycliffe Gordon, Bobby Watson, Benny Golson, Roy Hargrove, Ernestine Anderson, Jimmy Cobb, Winard Harper, Richie Vitale, Ray Drummond, Rufus Reid, Lewis Nash, Jeremy Pelt, Joe Magnarelli, Joe Farnsworth, Jerry Weldon, Steve Davis, Ralph Lalama, Peter Bernstein, Russell Malone, Christian McBride, Billy Taylor, Marian McPartland, David Hazeltine, Marcus Belgrave, Mulgrew Miller.
