Lets talk sustainer...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2AJgAURuTg
there are also some good examples of Vai using sustainer with whammy...
got to search for it

Alternative Products (how good are they?)
1. E-Bow
2. Boss DF-2, GT-6/8(Feedbacker) etc
3. Line6 Dr. Distorto(FDBK-Sus/Oct)
4. Korg's PX-4D(Feedbk 1,2,3 or 4) etc
5. http://www.sustainiac.com/

If you are to get a sustainer, would you get
1. The Kit and convert one of your guitar or
2. Sustainer equiped Guitar? Beside Fernandes, what other brands?
e.g. Kramer - http://www.musicyo.com/featured_product/us/fp319.asp

Prob a kit, the only sustainer equipped guitar I would purchase is the Jackson PC-1. And that costs my arm and leg, plus my two cats.

If its the kit, I would consider the Sustainiac kit, people have mentioned its good, just as good as the fernandas one, but small in size. Plus, I'll get the single coil size one, so I can retain a single coil in the neck.

The Jackson PC-1 has the, well, Jackson sustainer.

But in anycase, I wouldn't get a sustainer... lose the neck pup position. The neck pup tone of the Fernandes sustainer is quite.. boring.

Yeap, Vai has a few with sustainers, notable Bad Horsie and I think.. Flo.

Abt your products,
1 & 5 = real sustain, they generate string movement
2, 3, & 4 = "fake" sustain... the strings still slowly stop moving, nothing moves them, its jsut a butt load of compression/gain that ups the volume of the dying signal so there's "sustain".

Note, the Boss DF-2 is different ah... the pedal feedbacks 1 pre-set note. Thats it. When you step and hold, the preset note comes out, step off, shuts off.

A Big Muff has a buttload of sustain.
