Seeking advise for analog to PC recording

Hi people,

Just wanted to get some recommendations and feedbacks on my scenario
below for I have no experience in using the MiniDisc technology.

I have this SonyMDS-JE480 deck which will be linked to my home setup;
a consumer level-karaoke system (amp + normal karaoke microphone).
Sound input will be from the microphone & my electric-acoustic guitar.

I've did some research came across this open-source software called
Audacity. My laptop has only a 1/8" input jack for the input, I'm
assuming I would be able to do analog transfers using a [L+R --> 1/8"
jack] wire.

Kindly advise on the aspects which I should take note of, such as
sampling rate & etcetera.
Many thanks.

Hi Kinokunya

When transferring from MD to computer, just set it to the same resolution as you have recorded in the MD. Usually 44.1kz and 16bit.

Some MD and 'better' sound cards have SPDIF - a digital transfer protocol. If your equipment has this, try to use it.

Actually, you might as well connect karaoke system's LR out -> 1/8" computer soundcard IN.
