i have a warlock..
very very bad condition..
plug it and only get the hum sound and totally can't play anything..
the open coil pickups are "juiced".. meaning there are "pickup juice/zhap" coming out.. damn gross..
pots are jammed.. can't turn either direction..

this is my friend's guitar and i wanna open up and rewire everything back..
but i know totally nothing.. from pickups to toggle to pots..
i'll get pickups and pots separately..

i googled but i find things too complicated.. no pictures leh..
Is there any good website that i can look at for reference on how to DIY... or worse case.. where would u recommend a shop to fix this for me?

thanks in advance!

You need to have soldering skill and some electrical basics. For the wiring diagram, you can get it from the pickups' website. If you are afraid of screwing up, bring the guitar to people like Mike @ Standard Value or Beez @ Look for Beez.

umm.. basic soldering skills i think i can lah.. engineers mah.. haha..
can read schematic lah.. but i see the online stuff.. like damn complicated.. hahaha.. has anyone tried and succeeded?

where mike from standard value? never hear before..

i find beez a bit overcharge leh.. that time i let him fix my acoustic guitar.. he just turn turn the truss rod and charge me $50.. but yes.. i agree he is a nice guy.. chat and learn a lot.. sort of like paying tuition fee for learning lah.. hahaha..

guitar wiring here: http://www.guitarelectronics.com/category/wiringresources

potentiometer/toggle switches/pickup switch and more 101 here:

the above just some basic stuff to go over first, if really want to start on diy. If really having the time to play around, read thru those and some other infos available on those site. At least able to identify pickup wires, switches poles etc before starting.

Getting a digital multimeter is not a must, but definitely useful when checking for continuity.

Heh, if too troublesome to read, just send the geetar to geetar tech for them to work on it. Recommendations will come in later.

I did the wirings for all of my guitars. Just follow the wiring diagram which can be found on the manufacturer's website. For me its Seymour Duncan so the diagrams are here. Mike is from Standard Value. His charges are reasonable. Beez do not overcharge lah. Turning the truss rod require some experience. If a noob turn the truss rod without any knowledge, he might break the truss rod.

ok.. woodlands seems good for me.. better ask before i give them..
cuz that time i give beez and later tell me $50.. my pants drop..

ok i'm mess up this guitar before sending it down.. hahaha!

hahahahah.. jialat.. after seeing the websites.. i think i going back to beez.. pay school fees and hopefully he will teach me.. hahahaha..
