Randall rx30d List for $338 @ g77

Features: 30w solid state amp, with single 12 inch speaker. Comes with footswitch, effects send/return. Tape/cd input, headphone out. Dsp effects which had delay, reverb, chorus flange. Footswitch changes channels and switch effects on/off.

Clean Sound: 7/10 Very balanced sounding amp, which is typical of solid state. Excellent bass and presence which should be expected given its a 30w and with celestion speaker. Works very well with pedals. But if you're looking for a specific type of clean sound eg. vox clean or fender clean, look elsewhere.

Overdrive: 8.5/10 This is where the amp really shines in the rock genre. The overdrive has 2 stages, normal overdrive and a boost. This amp has lots of gain on tap and can give that extreme chuga chuga with that huge deep bass sound. Totally awesome. Does everything from light rock to heavy metal. If you're looking for a slight breakup overdrive sound, itll sound better through the clean with a tubescreamer.

effects: The effects sound nice but are somewhat limited. Theres an effect selection knob and level knob and thats it. Really wished there was an additional knob for depth. The flanger is a little weak, can't get the jet swoosh kinda sound here. Another thing thats missing is a indicator light that shows whether the dsp is on or off.

miscellaneous: Really like the idea of a master vol switch here. Even though its 30w and a 12 inch speaker, can get decent sound at realtively low volumes. The vol scales very well unlike some fender ss models where at vol 1 its too soft and vol 2 its too loud for home use!! This baby can get really loud as well and should be able to stand up to a small gig.

Likes: excellent vol control
gd overdrive for rock
generally effects sound gd

dislikes: limited control for effects.
no indicator light for effects
weak flanger

Overall this amp although not best clean sounding amp in the market. Has a great overdrive channel well suited for rock and Works well with pedals For $338 current list price, comes with an unbeatable feature set. Heck even the footswitch comes right out of the box. Whereas most brands you'd have to fork out an additional 50 bucks for it. Very few companies offer a 12 inch speaker for a 30w. Most come with 10.

Its really great value for money and would recommend it to all rockers out there.

I always had the impression Randall amps were expensive...

A 30-watt at $300 plus sounds reasonable!

Where to buy Randall amps, by the way?
