Questions about the Rolling Glide...

I've been playing on my new Iron Cobras for some time now, and I discovered that I played significantly better (faster, more even, without concentrating too much on my legs) on the Yamaha Flying Dragons. Btw I'm talking about the double pedals here.

I tried setting spring tension, beater angle, pedalboard angle, but I still can't play as well as I did on the Yamahas. My spring tension is currently very very loose, my pedalboard angle and beater angle is 1 marking behind the middle marking.

I also realised that the space between my legs was not enough to place a snare drum, I thought it was just me being too small or the snare being too big. I then realised that it was that my connecting rod is too short after some comparisons on the net. The manual doesn't tell how to adjust the length of the connecting rod.

So, what's up with the better playing with the Yamahas? Should I change pedals, or wait and practice more? And how do I adjust the length of the connecting rod?
