the nordy split j-style singles are extremely gas-inducing

i am using stock dimarzio's on my aerodyne which gives my jazz a kinda modern tone

Tried the aerodyne bass, nice slap tone.
Yours is basswood or alder?

In the bassplayer magazine, the most popular pups is bartolini for now.
Tried it before, nice!!
But kent armstrong give a more sweet jazz tone.
Seymour Duncan more rocky..

mine is alder, with a flame maple top... dimarzio collection jazz's (J-J)

it's very light, very bright. i'm thinking of putting on a set of flats to experiment... the current set are nickel rounds. not really up my alley 8)

i was told by a seasoned bassist that emg's colour the tone to a bigger extent than other pups... he uses them on his basses

Alder with flamed maple top is nice.
Ya I'm pleased with my EMG. Active Jazz set.
Once I tried a Ibanez SR 900 with bartolini pups, neck thru.
Nice!!
I think there are other brands of pups beside those mentioned above?
Anyone else have something different?

the good old SR900 and SRX900 (i like) which have both been DISCONTINUED.... i dunno whats up with manufacturers nowadays lah

I think it is replace by SR 700. Worth the money for the specs..

Most other basses, you need to pay for the "brand" as well.

i've owned ibanez basses and amps in the past and they really are great value. i never got the rage against 'ibanez', and even then can still discriminate between MIJ and MIK ibanez's
