Hi all.

I had this question on getting a P.A system.

Is is good to have a
1. Powered mixer with a Passive speakers
2. Or Active speaker with a normal mixer?

Which is more energy saving and advantages/disadvantages.

Enlightend me please as i not very sure about which is a better thing to do?.

Hi ah5ive

I a bit old school, so I like to have individual component. Mixer+Amp+Speakers. I like it this way also because if any component breakdown, I can easily swap that with another.

For example, if the speaker is spoilt, I just find another spare and use it while the other goes for repair.

If you use those active speakers or powered mixer, you will have to replace them as a whole.

Advantage of having these 'integrated' system is that we don't have to worry about matching.

It will depends on your usage also. Is it mission critical or causal use?

Mixer (digital or analog) -> Power Amps -> Passive Subs & Passive Speakers works best for me...

p.a

thanks james n Cavett

so the good advantage of breaking it down is easiler for replacing but matching becomes the problem due to the budget.

where else the intergrated solution you take it as whole when you need to get it repair..

hmm.. worth considering point.
