even i dont FEEL when i try playing other people's stuff, eg eric clapton's layla or something. doing covers/ copies gets you learning skills with which u can express your creativity in.
then after that, go jam... or play alongside some other music, creating ur riffs and stuff. its when you take it personal when you find your FEEL.
