Need help with pedalboard !

Hi guys,

Basically I'm very new here and also pretty new to the beautiful instrument, guitar as well .. I started playing like a year ago and I've still got A LOT to learn . Can I propose a question coz I'm a total newbie here ..

I've got a "gig" coming up .. Well all this time I've been using a Modtone Extreme Metal pedal , JUST THAT PEDAL . I've been to gigs and watched friends perform and stuff and they always have a pedal board with full of pedals in them. Can anyone please enlighten me by telling me what's essential in a pedal board for a newbie like me. And I play .. kinda pop punk and a little of punk rock ... basically the easy stuff . Help me out here guys ? THANKS !

well... do you have any issues with the sound that you get from your current rig?
If you do, then there's actually no need to get more pedals just because everyone else does.

Up till recently, I've been (ab)using the same 2 pedals for 7 years without ever having the need to buy more. So it's pretty subjective.
