Hey everyone James here.
I m a fresh ORDer so now lots of time and committment for jamming and giging. It was really sad that I let go my band activities earlier coz I must concentrate on something else with maximum effort. However now I m free of whatever business and studies..just waiting for my Uni to start..So commitment wise there should be no problem.
I picked up guitar in the year 06. I tought my self all the way. Not really very good but good enough to cover lots of pretty technical songs. Like those songs from Middle-aged man from Bodom lake. songs that looks pretty "dark" colored in guitar pro tabs.( which simply means they are just faster with lots of note shredings...etc.) For original pieces I m not too sure coz it has been really developed..I might be able to write some main rhythm riffs for metal...so I think I m better off tryin to become a lead or rhythm for covers...however if your band is going for original I m able to learn and adapt. Like I described about my commitment and interest...I was diverted to lots of really important events of life so I couldnt afford jamming but now its a whole new story since I m free from those...So if you give me a chance, I will try my utter most to give the shot and hit it hard.
Musical influence wise, I m a straight metalhead. A hardcore guy who listen to metal at least 2 hours a day. There are so many bands I listen to that the name list can stretch damn long to kill your interest of continue reading so I ll just state some representative ones. Melodic Death is my favorite.(Arch enemy, Naildown, Mercenary kalmah..etc. can be quite thrashy) then thrash(exodus, kreator,destruction,testament etc. pretty old school rather than the new nu thrash kinda bands. but i love some of em) Metalcore(right,I sometime needed chill outs from serious metal arts so there they go...BMFV,Killswitch,As I lay dyin, All that remain...etc.)Lastly I listen to a bit of black metal. not really into it but some bands have the "music-depth"(emperor) and the arguably most commercialised melodic(dimmu borgir).I listen to some Gothic also. I started all these influences from metallica. I like some older metal bands too(Judas Priest, Iron maiden.). Somewhere in between aggressive thrash and melodics, where I m trying to find best balance for these.
From the start of the thread I ve been emphasizing on my passion so expect me to be pretty enthusiastic for your band. I m fine to play either rhythm or lead but I m not really good at being vox at the same time and I do not think my voice are good enough for lead vox...if you need me to do a bit of background clean vox I could try though..I live around hougang area and dont really wish to travel far unless the jamming room provide guitars...coz my own guitars are ALL weird shape types with pointy ends...I do not want to coz damage by travelling far.
Thats all about me at the moment...pretty much all information needed...
