Market rate for arrangement of songs?

Hi everyone,

Am curious as to the typical market rate to charge for providing arrangement for a song. An acquaintance has given me a rough demo of the song and I was asked to track, rearrange, and produce it into a longer and more polished piece. Here're its details:

1) Backing tracks (these will not be recorded with live instruments) will consist of 1 piano track and 2 or 3 strings tracks.
2) Vocals will be provided by client
3) Song will approximately be between 3 to 4 minutes

He has asked me for a rate, but this being the first piece which I am producing entirely (I have only done portions of the production/composition process - tracking, arranging, etc - in the past) I am unsure of the rate I should provide him. Is there anyone who could perhaps fill me in on this issue?

Hahha i would like to know too, if there really is a guideline to charging for arrangement
But most of the time i think it shld depend on ur r/s with the client, how good u think u are compared to the professionals, what it would be used for, whether mixing is needed, etc...
