How to keep your kit shinny and prevent rust

In our climate where humidity is high, out kit tends to rust much faster those those countries that are "drier". Anyone care to share how to prevent or delay the rusting process? While some uses using car wax on the chrome parts, i thought maybe we can use "singer oil" - just like during army days oiling our M16s.

Like what many have said before, thirsty hippos help! If you would like to invest more, you could get a dehumidifier and put it in your room. Keep windows and doors closed and switch on your aircon once in awhile.

My drum kit is in my room and my windows are usually closed. Doors are closed when im not home and the aircon is switched on during the night. My kit definitely has oxidation as it can't be helped but very minimal rust! Just wipe clean your chrome parts once in awhile when you see oxidation and it should be good.
