actually
i was taught snaredrum bounce rolls aren't just about pressing.
personally,
match grip with palms side would be more favourable for beginners or the equivalent, coz then you wouldn't have to learn the bounce roll from 2 different stickholding angles (or whatever you call it).
try holding the stick in your hand and letting it just drop onto the snare / table. don't use books for this. watch it as it bounces off the surface; first hit hardest, then second and third the lightest - almost with no bounce (some may get fourths, depending on the weight of your stick).
then apply some pressure between your thumb and index as you drop the stick and try to get the bounces to be more obvious and balanced.
when you can do that, try applying more pressure. this should enable you to control the bounce of the stick - afterwhich you can try getting 2 strokes per hit (bounced of course) or even 3.
this way, you'd learn better versatility in producing dynamics with your snareroll - instead of just pressing damn hard and harder when you want it louder. you'd only kill the bounce that way but perhaps some don't realise.
hope it helps.
